    Where’s the /s?

The only people that were really happy with the budget approval in March were Republicans. Everyone else was either livid because Democrats gave up one of the few bargaining chips they had or resigned to the fact Democrats can’t do anything substantive and any day we’re not under martial law is a blessing.

Everyone on here was livid with Democrats.

What happened after? Trump’s approval rating went from net 0 to net -9. Would this have happened if Democrats shut the government down?

I don’t think so, but who knows. I think Trump and Republicans would play the victim (which they are great at) and anything bad that came after would be blamed on Dems, including any damage from the tariffs.

Right now we’re in a situation where conservative voters are not happy with the administration. There are pros and cons to shutting the government down, and people on here do not consider the cons at all.

I’ve seen polls that put Democrats approval rating even lower than the GOP. My guess is because too many are treating this as another Republican presidency and not pushing the envelope or trying new angles to obstruct Trump or bring awareness to the issues. IMO even if the Democrats cave in a few days the waves of this standoff will be much bigger and more people will take notice.

There’s a reason Trump hasn’t just told every employee to just stay home and for every building to be locked down. He doesn’t have the political capital or big business backing to do something so massively damaging to the economy.
