Three cueing, also known as the searchlight model or MSV (meaning, syntax, visual), is a method for teaching reading that encourages students to guess the meaning of unfamiliar words using context clues, rather than sounding them out phonetically. This approach has faced criticism for not being supported by research on effective reading instruction, which emphasizes phonics and decoding skills.
This seems like an article about an accountant who couldn’t fucking read well blaming a methodology that’s been incredibly effective, because SHE struggled with it
Maybe. I asked my mother who had been an educator for some fifty years, and she said she knew the method as whole word learning, and hated it. She taught in special education and said most of her students were there because the method failed them. But learning and education changes every few years/decades so who knows what method will be deemed the best next and how it will fail some students as well.
No yeah let’s ignore the 50+ footnotes and dozens of linked sources proving how three cueing isn’t effective. Come thru Betsy DeVos.
