As for me, I don’t see any good reason to continue using Windows because M$ forces users to use online accounts.

Windows is the most embarrassingly-made major software still being manufactured and purchased. There’s nothing like it.

I feel sorry for all of the software engineers at Microsoft who are too used to their paychecks to get work that matters.

        Oh excellent point.

I’ll amend it with “widely-distributed” software. Software without a captive business audience.

Luckily I don’t have to deal with much ERP software lately (or something like Workday, which is also awful). I’d put Oracle on this list too.

all of the software engineers at Microsoft

They got fired a while ago. It’s only copilot defecating slop, now, which explains why every single update permanently breaks some fundamental feature that had been working for ages.

I’ve been a windows user since the very beginning of my computer journey, I had no interest in Linux, windows met my needs entirely.

I installed Cachy OS rather than upgrade to windows 11. I know a lot of people have either irritating and difficult to solve, to even system breaking issues with Linux, but not me. This shit just works and I don’t miss windows at all.

I mean fuck, you can just run a program called bauh that let’s you find any program you want to install with a simple search and gives you multiple ways to do it. The flatpack install method could not be more friendly to a windows refugee.

Seriously consider trying Linux if you are tired of windows. I was worried enough I just took out the m.2 with my windows install and threw in a new one for Linux, so I could go right back if I wanted, I might burn that SSD.

Even better, if your motherboard has two slots, you can do what I did and simply install Linux on a brand new second M.2, and set that as your default boot drive. I can easily boot Windows if ever needed, which was only ever once or twice, and even better, I can access all my windows files from my Linux install, if I ever realize I want an old screenshot/config file/etc.

Super convenient, and whenever I want that storage back, I’ll simply wipe the Windows drive and call it a day, I haven’t accessed it in months anyway.

They’ve been innovatively stagnant and focused on the wrong thing for years. All of this AI is them trying to chase the first thing that comes along without thinking about what people would actually want.

The scary part is they’re going to continue to try jamming shit nobody wants into their server stuff too, but I guess that’s been bloated garbage too.

Eh, too late. I’m already gone. Was only on Windows for gaming in the first place, and they’ve lost that now.

I’ve got two(!!!) games left that a lot of my buddies play that are windows-only. Once those get a port, my Windows SSD is going from the secondary boot option to a secondary storage drive lol

Just make a solid OS without shoehorning every buzzword in. Basically polish up windows 7. Give it the snow leopard treatment but with a nice fresh DE

This is too funny. Windows is 30 years old. If they couldn’t fix it by now they probably don’t have the capability.
