“I was paid in the past, Sean, for my opinions, that’s clear, and one day I will be back in that space—but that’s not what I’m paid for now,” he said. “I’m paid to be your deputy director, and we base investigations on facts.”

I made things up in the past and lied, I’ll make things up in the future and lie, but right now the facts are important and I definitely would never lie.

Even IF he’s doing actual factual work now… Why would anyone believe him?

Was he also paid by Russia like Tim Pool?

I thought it was pretty obvious they were all getting paid to be propagandists. They sure as shit wouldn’t do it for free.

I mean, is he saying he was lying though? Saying “I was paid for my opinions” is kind of a stretch to “I was lying.”

He’s saying “I was paid to hold the opinions I espoused.” He didn’t speak them in good faith and didn’t come by them honestly. I think your comment is being seen as a distinction without a difference.

no, it’s not clear he’s saying he was paid to have those opinions, only that his job then was to share opinions, but his job now, according to him is to find facts. I’m no fan of bongino, but I’m really big on intellectual honesty.

Yeah I mean that seems to be what he’s saying to me. Do I think he was lying before? Yes. Do I think he’s lying now? Also yes. But I don’t think he’s admitting to lying.
