I’m guessing that the compilation of old Cambodian garage rock easily qualifies as ‘least famous’. The first song ‘Jeas Cyclo’ is the one I remember best from there, of course. Of note is that I’m not Cambodian and don’t speak the language.

As for most famous, too much nineties’ europop music is guilty and nostalgic pleasure of mine to choose one song.

I also post somewhat obscure music in !music@lemmy.world — though I haven’t gotten to really shady stuff yet. My favorite little-known modern band is Mamaleek.

Popular: Strobe by Deadmau5. I personally like Let Go more from him, but it’s not as well-known.

Unpopular: Rodeo by The Party. This one is a wildly deep cut. My actual favorite song is more popular, but this is my favorite, most-hidden gem.

Most Famous: Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel

Least Famous: The Gates by DaVinci’s Notebook

I know of more famous and less famous songs, but I went with ones that are personal favorites.

Famous: Man it’s hard to pick out a single favorite because there are so many I love, but if I’m being asked to pick one, I’d go with Knights of Cydonia by Muse. Sometimes I use it as a warm-up song when I’m practicing.

Least famous: Nouela Johnston had a group years ago called People Eating People. They have one album, and on it is a slow, bluesy song called Let’s Rage. I’m not sure why I love this song so much but I just do. I’d like to do a cover of it some day.

“Angry Man” by Blacksmith Union has less than 1000 streams on Spotify, so I guess that one.

“Every Breath You Take” by the Police has 3.2 billion views, which edges out Bohemian Rhapsody

I think most famous is bohemian rhapody, less famous: little girl blue by Janis Joplin (she is famous, but I never hear this song). Least famous: kantklossen by de klojos.
