It’s such an absurd bogeyman. Politicians have been talking about instituting public healthcare in the USA my entire life, and it still hasn’t happened. I have never heard a single American politician promoting Sharia Law, but republicans act like this shit is coming any day now unless we act fast.
By the way: I have no idea what shariah law actually entails because I don’t care because I don’t have to because it is not happening. 50 years after half of all politicians in the USA start demanding it I may bother to look up the details.
They don’t even understand it. Sharia Law was an advancement for humanity, first implementing the idea of juris prudence. The Normans saw this and imported it from their conquest of Sicily to their conquest of Britain, which then became the foundation of British Common Law, which is the foundation of our own justice system today.

What exactly is so bad? Our own justice system has incarcerated more people than any other nation, all based on legalized slavery through the 13th Amendment.

These are only two laws imported from judaism into islam but nobody would criticise judaism. And besides sharia also include laws that forbid climate destruction that actually kills more people today, it also mandates wealth tax that directly affect wealth inequality.
Regarding death penalty, it is forbiden in sharia to snoop on people. Like you don’t go around looking for people to kill, and all the scholars agree it is better to leave someone guilty than to punish an innocent one. So only repeated offenders are caught and even then they are supposed to be given guidance first, and let go. They can also flee the society after that and they shouldn’t be pursued. Only the people who stay firm in their disobedience are punished.
And I completely understand you may think even that is unjustifiable. But understand that it is because of how our modern society is today. Roughly 2 out of 3 people in germany commit adultery at least once similar numbers in france. Lying and cheating are not only accepted but justified if its not against the law.
Ofcourse, those laws in sharia can not be applied today but it is way more than just “sharia law wants to kill people”
