I don’t know how many times I need to spell it out Americans:

    Line item #2

You need to deal with your worthless president hellbent on destroying the planet.

Especially when most people have some variation of, “I am going to work myself to death now for a comfortable later” burned into their head from generation after generation of parents.

The, “No Kings” protests basically accomplished nothing beyond a, “neat statistic”, in my opinion.

Most people are tuned out, my worksite has 1000+ people at it, no one is talking about this stuff, ever. I am a bit, most people do not care, do not want to risk doing something or have shit going on in their personal lives that take priority.

Anyone critical should do themselves a favor and watch the 1961 film, “Judgment at Nuremberg”. The USA judges’ servants, when asked if they knew about concentration camps initially denied it. Then, seconds later (paraphrasing), “Even if we did, we are but little people, what could we do?”.

P.S. Down voting doesn’t change stated reality, sorry.

I think the No Kings protests enabled a lot of people to meet the ones who truly represents them and motivated a lot of people to vote in the midterms. We’ve removed Trump from office before and we can do it again.

That said, it takes 67 votes to remove a sitting president and that would mean flipping all 20 Republican seats up for reelection: fat chance in hell. We’ll be on damage control until 2028 at a minimum and come 2032 assholes will have already forgotten the harm again.

A Senate majority is all that’s needed to block Trump’s agenda. Cut off his funding and there’s no pressing need to remove him from office.

Protests are not about a single day changing anything. Ideally that’d be great, but protests require constant work. Georgia (the county) has its citizens protesting in the streets for over 200 days day. Protests bring like minded people together. Those people connect. Make plans. Make arrangements for further protests and so on. It’s not about “winning” a single day. It’s about constant, persistent pressure in the form of protests that may eventually let the people when, if/when a gov’t backs down. I don’t discourage protesting, but I don’t trust this regime to not cart people away in unmarked vans. Again.

Well, there’s the extreme end of things that moderators don’t like posts about People love Luigi, though. But I understand not wanting to throw one’s life away, even if success pushed the entire world onto a better trajectory.

There’s also that low grade sabotage stuff that gets talked about. I think people were posting the ww2 sabotage manual a couple months ago. Stuff like have excessive meetings, make plausible mistakes to gum things up, that kind of stuff. This works better if you’re closer to a source of the problems (eg: ICE, mega corps, republican think tanks, etc)

Then there’s safer stuff like protests. There’s the really safe ones where you just go and march. Those have use, but are kind of limited and won’t fix things on their own. You can also do disruptive protests, but you have to be quick and smart, or you have a high risk of going to jail (or worse).

Radicalizing your friends also can be planting seeds. Maybe those will grow.

You could run for office, but that’s slow and expensive.

There’s probably other stuff, too, but I’m running out of steam here.

You know it’s been almost a year since the shooting of Brian Thompson and not only have I never seen any evidence of claim denial rates reversing after intentionally searching for it, and the UHC doubled down on their creed by publicly denouncing any and all pro-luigi protests on many occasions, but also tens of millions of people have had coverage delayed or permanently taken away after the GOP gutted medicaid.

So I’m gonna double down and say Luigi Mangione missed by at least a few miles.

Im honestly tired of assholes telling us how to deal with this.

One, if you don’t live here don’t act like you would be all Badass. If you are, by all means, come to America and show us.

Two, realize the vast majority of this country didn’t care in November and still doesn’t care now. You’re not fomenting some revolution with a seriously paltry amount of the population and especially not with the environment you described.

It’s not defeatism- it’s realism. Most people dgaf. That is the current situation.

Now you’re not doing jack shit.

So yeah. Assholes are going to abound when hypocrites threaten the entire world with their broken promise to themselves and everyone who they shoved the culture down the throat of before threatening invasion, ruining climate mitigation, killing science, promoting religion, assisting Russia, and demolishing the world economy in acts of economic war.

Tell us how to fight back against one of the most highly militarized police forces in the world and the most powerful army in the world?

Afghani peasants did it. The Iraqis did it. The Vietnamese did it.

You never fight an enemy on their terms. The military control the guns. American civilians control EVERYTHING ELSE. Authorities can only be in one location. Citizens are everywhere.

        Organize.

Block roads. Obstruct government and commerce. Hit infrastructure. Dump manure in the streets like the French. Stop garbage pickup. Bring society to its knees.

If those nations I mentioned can do it then surely the “home of the brave” can too.

No change to Trump will come from that. Blocking roads or dumping manure? That may work in France because French police still are humans. But in America you may get shot doing that and called a terrorist afterwards.

The first step to any of these things is explaining to me how we break Americans out of their complacent stupor. And honestly, the only way I can think to do that, is to wait for things to get much much much worse. Not until people are literally fighting for their survival will they be willing to do much of these things.

I think this is true too. People are too fat and comfortable and lazy to bother. It’s going to get so much worse to get them to wake up. Hopefully it won’t be a loved one getting dragged off by the gestapo to convince them to resist.

The issue is mainly coordination. One person acting is going to accomplish nothing while guaranteeing that this one person loses everything. Everyone needs to act at the same time. We need a leader to start a movement that everyone can get behind.

Not paying taxes will do nothing but get a persona arrested, and then the tax money would be taken anyway. This is the dumbest idea I’ve read yet.

And violence… Cool, not a bad idea, but how? Do you think the average or even above average person can get anywhere near the POTUS for an assassination attempt? If an elected official is murdered in their house, that doesn’t change margins. A number of people would have to be killed at almost the same time or everyone goes into lockdown.

Say for a second someone pops Trump. Then what? JD Vance, that’s what. Then another slew of Republicans to take control.

Getting violent towards the likes of ICE is also great in theory, but that did happen, and it was over almost immediately. They are better armed than the militaries of some countries. Also, the US is a massive place. It would take me a day of driving to get to DC where currently their are weekend warriors playing army.

All that to say, it’s not as simple as pinch your pennies and get violent. If it were, we wouldn’t be in this situation.
