CMV: This is the gun grab.

Step 1: Create State Militas run by federal deputies

Step 2: revisit Heller, etc. and stress well run milita part.

Step 3: confiscate all non milita weapons.

Step 4: burn Constitution?

Well… It’s not the first time the National Guard gunned down protesters. No one was ever held responsible for Kent State murders, and Kent State was not the only college that saw National Guard violence. 60 years ago, and in that time, no laws were changed to prevent it from happening again.

The national guard of the 1600s was organized around fighting american indians to assist with the colonization of North America.

The modern national guard wasn’t formed until the Dick Act of 1903, after which they were almost immediately used to suppress labor strikes. You can look into the Colorado Labor Wars or the Ludlow Massacre for some contemporary examples.

you jest, but the defense of capital is a major reason for militarization of civil society - police in the US were originally slave catchers and private guards for the wealthy

This whole thing isn’t going to pass. Trump/Hegseth are only external expressions of the fundamental rot at the heart of America’s social, political and economic systems. America is in terminal decline and putting guardrails around the presidency is too little, too late

Yes, when I said “has passed”, I mean “when the people of the United States have vanquished this specific version of fascism”. I wasn’t suggesting that it was going to pass on its own.

We had a chance. Biden’s administration should have been solely focused on preventing the return and acceleration of fascism. Instead, they cowed to their corporate masters and threw crumbs to the people.

As others have said, we’ve likely had our last free election as the United States of America. Whatever follows should absolutely have guardrails against this happening again.

I don’t have a say in what happens in the US, I am fighting locally on our own issues here in Mayotte. I wasn’t trying to say fascism would “pass”, that was a poor choice of words. Let’s reword it to “when Trumpism is dead”.

Ok then. This sounds exactly like the stuff all you Second Amendment aficionados have been warning about my entire life. I assume that you’re all prepping, and gearing up to take out these federal goons when they show up in your town. Right? I mean, if this isn’t it, then you’ve just been cosplaying that ‘don’t tread on me’ bravado this whole time. Time to put up.

They’ll never think about it like that. Even though Ruby Ridge happened under Bush 41, the Weavers are all insane about Democrats. Even though most of them would suggest 9/11 was an Inside Job to pass the Patriot Act, under Bush 43, it was all Obama to blame for anything bad. Even though Trump banned bump stocks, it’s the Dems that love gun control (which they rarely ever actually pass). Even though James Brady was Reagan’s press secretary, the Brady Bill passed under Clinton right after Waco happened and the ATF made taking guns a national obsession with those people.

Motherfucker the second amendment doesn’t only apply to “aficionados”, but all citizens. Where were you when they banned the most effective guns with which to resist tyranny?

So that means you’re stepping up too, right? You didn’t just ask me to go die alone for you because you couldn’t be bothered and maybe don’t like guns to begin with, right? You realize that there’s a difference between one guy with a gun and forty guys with guns, RIGHT?

Google Cliven Bundy or MFAC for admittedly unfavorable but effective examples of this, and then feel free to fuck off after that.

Or were you talking to the more numerous MAGA gun nuts who can’t wait to goose step over and kiss some boots and who obviously won’t be lifting a finger to stop any of this?

I hate your shitty, smug, and typical response because this shit is serious and you’re a fucking joke.

Bro chill. They were talking direct to all the people who scream that they need guns after the latest school shooting prompts people to talk about gun control. All the people who have guns “for self defense” because they believe that stealing a TV deserves the death penalty. All the people who claim that guns are important to stand up to tyranny while they vote for conservatives time after time.

You’re taking this to such a personal level and we’re [probably] not even talking about you.
