For years, some on the extreme right have promoted the conspiracy theory that the U.S. military is in possession of technology — in the form of magic “med beds” — which can singlehandedly cure any disease and extend human life. The beds can supposedly even regrow missing limbs within minutes.

leaks show that the military really is in possession of such a device.

    Bonkers people do bonkers things.

Would you expect a sane output from someone who is about as mentally stable as The Joker.

No wonder Trump wants to remove any and all AI regulations, it makes it easier for him to grift people.

Who benefits from flooding the public sphere with AI generated nonsense? Those who have power already.

Ok, so was that video entirely AI and he saw it and posted it thinking maybe he was interviewed for it and forgot… or is that video real and he was actually interviewed and this was a real news clip?

The Fox News studio posted a statement, saying the clip was never aired on their channel. The entire news clip is AI, not just the part with Trump talking.

I just think it’s ai voices over mostly real clips and obvious stock footage. If you make a cut every second of two no one can even tell that video doesn’t belong to the audio

But then, I have no interest in going framed by frame. I can see how this would fool someone as moronic as anyone to the right of left

My grandmother actually believes that this “med bed” bullshit is real. It’s not going to do anything.

It’s not going to do anything.

I bet it will do one thing: Separate idiots from their money. There will inevitably be scammers who target the elderly, claiming that their medbed card was delayed because they owe back taxes. Now they need to go buy $5000 in Target gift cards, or else they’ll never be able to access their medbed.

Not just the elderly, there’s a LOT of chronically and terminally ill people who fall for these scams because at some point, there’s a lot of people who are willing to flail your arms and try anything, regardless of how dumb it sounds, rather than having to hear the doctors say “well we can try X for 3 weeks and see what we get out of it” for the 50th time.

          It’s about pew, pew too.

Actually after Andor my Star Wars perspective has shifted. Any Star Wars from the epic to the small is about hope, and that anyone can contribute their part to change. Sometimes a person is a big part of that, sometimes just a small piece, but they’re all important.

Wow, Trump wouldn’t like that, would he? That is, if he could possibly pick up on that theme.

Except none of them have lived that long. They hype everything they do as The Next Big Thing, but none of it has been that in 20 years.

Smartwatches, VR/AR, crypto, Metaverse, AI, smart everything, IoT… There’s gotta be a ton more. If those turds had a heal-everything box, they’d use them to make billions.

      Yes

“…and billionaires have sci-fi level medical access to techniques that stretch lifespan to 120-170”

No, but we are getting there. I think it’s far more likely these billionaires will start building neural models of themselves so they can outlive their bodies. It will be the modern equivalent of an expensive portrait or statue. It will also be terrifying if left in charge of making decisions for large companies because pride and money.

It would also be a cheap imitation, it will not be the immortality they are looking for, science is nowhere near this singularity they are dumping all of this money into.
