Trump agrees with whomever he spoke with last because he’s dumb and gullible. Its not shocking in the least.

By tomorrow Miller and Vance will convince him to threaten on his shitty Twitter to bomb New York City and he won’t even notice the disconnect.

He agrees with whomever kissed his ass last, becsuse he is dumb, gullible, and an egotistical narcissist. If the last person he spoke to called him a deranged, tiny-dicked pedophile I am sure he would be calling for their imprisonment or execution.

“I think, hopefully, you’re gonna have a really great mayor, and the better he does, the happier I am, I will say. There’s no difference in party, there’s no difference in anything, and we’re gonna be helping him to make everybody’s dream come true — having a strong and very safe New York.”

Wow. Did someone give Trump a drug? Did Mamdani hypnotize him? This is bonkers.

      Did Mamdani hypnotize him?

He’s a 79 year old demented narcissist, and Mamdani is a smart son of immigrants from Brooklyn…

I said it the other day that Mamdani was gonna finesse trump into a reverse mortgage and buying two of the same mixtape.

It doesn’t fucking take much, you just need to manage more charisma than Chuck Schumer. trump isn’t hard to manipulate, it’s just neoliberals never want to actually win. They want the public attention for throwing shit with trump, Mamdani wants to get shit done.

The fact that Mamdani knows how to talk to Trump is a sign of his intelligence and his way with words. We’ve also seen some foreign leaders who know exactly how to talk to Trump to get what they want.

          Not really.

It doesn’t have to be deeper than Mamdani saying:

____ will make NYC love you

trump would (figuratively) pay any price for that, it’s what he’s wanted his entire life. The wealthy NYers will never accept him, so he can piss them off and get some kind of authentic goodwill for his hometown?

trump could absolutely be talked into that short term.

I mean, Fetterman had some questionable views even before the point that most acknowledged that he’d flipped, he simply got less coverage than Mamdani and had the benefit of running against Dr. Oz so a lot of it was missed/overlooked. I think it’s significantly less likely that Mamdani flips because, to my understanding, he’s been very consistent in his views for quite a while now, even from the time before he was in office.

That said, if Mamdani flipped I could see it doing significant damage to the left on the basis of perception alone, so it could be that I’m just praying the left won’t be… fettered, by another pretender giving progressive policy a wrongfully bad name.

He’s not even in office yet and us on the left are already trying to purity test his actions.

Jesus Christ, let’s judge Zohran & his team by their policy actions when they take office. Anything until then is just rampant speculation that’ll only serve the far-right and the foreign interest and big-money interest astroturfing bots trying to divide the left again!

I don’t really know what I put there that qualifies as purity testing? If it’s the final paragraph, I should say that it was intended to be unserious; I just wanted an excuse to continue the ‘fetter’ bit.

As stated, I think the situation is very unlikely, to the point that it’s not worth seriously considering unless we have a demonstrable, compelling reason to believe that a flip is presently happening. My point was rather to say that Fetterman’s flip was less unexpected than it would initially seem given what information existed at the time, and if he’d gotten the kind of attention Mamdani did when he was running, it likely wouldn’t have been as surprising as it ended up being. Conversely, however, even after the intense scrutiny Mamdani has received from both the media and people on the left and right, it would be a genuine surprise to me if he was being anything other than truthful about his beliefs and intentions, and so the two aren’t really directly comparable. It is speculation, yes, but it’s not as if it’s entirely baseless, and it leads into the conclusion of ‘all we can do is wait and see. There’s not a reason to be worried at this time, but there are plenty of reasons to be hopeful.’

Plus (and to your point), even if Mamdani turned out to be less progressive or less effective than I’d hoped, so long as he’s this side of sane about the current fascist takeover, then I’d say we should count him as an ally, regardless of anything else mentioned.

Those "uhh"s are a competent person thinking through how each thing they say could be misinterpreted and changing the language on the fly. He knew anything he said that could even be taken slightly as offensive to the right would dominate the news cycle for the next week. Its just sad that trump and his supporters knows the same thing and simply doesn’t give a shit about who he offends.

I hope Mamdani has adequate security because my first reaction to this is that it’s an attempt at plausible deniability for when some “unfortunate accident” befalls him. The emphasis on there not being a difference in parties, and how much they’re all rooting for him, could be parlayed into encouraging everyone to just accept a republican replacement since our goals are totally in alignment, but clearly the democrats just can’t take care of their own people or the citizens they represent.

Any other president and administration I’d take the comments as either sincere or just friendly empty platitudes, but this group doesn’t do anything seemingly human without ulterior motives.

    Master chess move.
