“You’re entering a show that is slightly different from previous, very similar shows. What was once a creepy story about a book is now about an e-reader that’s too greasy to hold. And that one phone call from the devil? Now it’s a FaceTime call from the devil. The devil part didn’t change. Prepare to see your unflattering reflection in…The Scary Mirror.”

All this doomsday prep and he couldn’t be bothered to buy games from GOG before the nukes fell? Oh well, deserves it for trusting DRM launchers HA

It’s fine, he’s got the generator inside, he’ll die from carbon monoxide in like an hour.

Ollama is separate from Wikipedia database I downloaded. Ollama is just a different thing and something to interact with. There’s very little synergy other than Wikipedia being source for ollama models claim

GOG exists. You can literally buy games DRM free online and for the same price as on Steam.

Games aren’t like movies. You can own the games you buy if you’re willing to put in the effort.

I got so many offline installers from gog and it feels so good. I don’t have to worry about a game disappearing on me or getting a patch that ruins mod compatibility years after release. And even if my internet goes down it’s available.

I made my own doomsday gaming stick. A one terabyte HP 911 pro stick filled with all sorts of games that are plug and play, all neatly categorized. I had an idea to start making copies and selling them on dark web markets, but honestly not worth the risk.

What are some of the highlights on the stick? Are you going you make us wait until the world ends? The suspense is killing me!

I might reevaluate my risk assessment and consider including other media. It’s right in there with weed in terms of both risk and reward, in that you’ll probably have fun/make a lot of people happy but definitely still need other means of support. There’s a guy doing exactly what you’re talking about at pretty much every educational institution for starters, and the risk is essentially being told to stop

Maybe you’re already aware, but even digital storage decays over time, both SSD and HDD. Granted, it’s a decently long time, but worth keeping in mind for an “In case of Apocalypse” media storage device.

Burning a gas generator inside a bomb shelter? At least he won’t have to live with his disappointment for long.

Why not opt for a solar panel and power bank combo?

Could be diesel or propane either way wouldn’t have been hard to design a box for it to sit in so that the fumes could still go outside.

After an apocalypse like that it’s unlikely that solar or wind would be very viable it would most likely be nuclear winter so that would stop both as solar is not going to get any sunlight and a windmill is going to require excessive maintenance to stay functional in that.

The better bet would still be battery bank but battery bank with generator that way you’re not just wasting electricity since a generator is a demand-based response but still uses a set amount of fuel no matter what just to run you use the generator to charge up the battery Bank and then use the batteries only turning on the generator when they need to recharge

      *laughs in DRM*

Just because a game is single player doesn’t mean squat these days. If your computer cannot connect to server to authenticate the license at least periodically then you’re fucked.

Unless you pirate or get it from GOG or other DRM-free sources. Steam DRM is at least indefinite so long as you have launched the game at least once though.
