Palmer Luckey of Anduril is teaming with Ben Lamm of Colossal Biosciences to launch Warhound, a startup dedicated to genetically engineering and cloning dogs for service in war, police work and first responder work.

Speaking to Wired, Lamm explained that the project was twofold. One part of the project would oversee the genetic engineering and cloning of the ideal dogs for war, and the other would develop tech for them to use on battlefields.

He got high and played War Dogs and thought “What if we had actual war dogs?” and then decided to raise money to abuse animals. The future is so stupid.

Spend money for gene engineering to cure cancers: ❌
Spend money to genetically engineer dogs to kill people ✅

CRISPR has raised tens of billions in money for cancer gene therapy. 2021 saw private venture investors spending $12.1 Billion, not including public funding which has totaled in the billions.

This still does not cancel out what i said, spending money to make genenetically engineered dogs to kill people is utterly stupid when you could finance more research to actual useful things that gene engineering do: curing genetic illnesses, discover if they can replicate axolotl’s regeneration on other animals, see why the heck some animals just have lower chances of gettin cancer, find out if we can speed up wound healing (or prevent scars!) And all this stuff

Well, it does lol. You said they don’t spend money on cancer gene therapy, when the fact is they spend hundreds of times the amount of this headline on it.

I think it’s morally bankrupt to fund genetic research on war dogs in general, but that’s a completely different argument and is irrelevant to the conversation about cancer therapy.

You could literally say the same thing about any money spent. Why spend money on battery research for EVs when you could spend that on cancer research?

          The two are not related.

Well if you read the community notes on it, this money isn’t even towards the genetic part. It’s to fund armor to protect the dogs in the field lol.

Very little of that $12B is for gene therapy, because very little of gene therapy is actually working.

But we already have robodogs. Boston Dynamics has been soft-launching them for years, innoculating the masses into adoring them & accepting them before unveiling their full wrathful capabilities. Why breed & abuse living creatures when we already have terrifying robots to do bloodshed for us?

Boston Dynamics made a robodog that doesn’t immediately trip over it’s own feet on gravel and has a thirty minute active runtime before it needs a two hour recharge.

Then they’ve dropped a fuckton on marketing and lobbying to keep the investment cash pouring in.

Dancing robots jumping around. Show me a robot placing something into a box after it fell to the ground. I’m sure with another 50 million one can hand you a screwdriver.

These fucking techbros are louder and trying to normalize unethical behavior under this regime being asked to remove regulation from all of their activities.

That is what a corporate dystopia really is. Laws for all but not for them.
