New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced a strategy to combat antisemitism Tuesday, including tens of millions of dollars in funding for hate crime prevention and Jewish cultural centers.
“While the Mayor’s plan has a number of positive elements, including some increased security funding for Jewish institutions and expanding proven programs, it fails to address a central issue that the mayor himself has perpetuated: rhetoric that demonizes and delegitimizes Israel inevitably leads to the targeting of Jewish New Yorkers,” the United Jewish Appeal Federation of New York, Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, American Jewish Committee and New York Board of Rabbis said in a joint statement on X.
But israel is bad and is not the whole of jewish identity. Fuck off.
They’re blaming the wrong person. The demonization and delegitimization of Israel are caused by Netanyahu’s evil an illegitimate genocide. Mamdani has nothing to do with that.
Fuck israel.
Aka do the opposite of israel

Hmm, so the (pick one) [Evil, Antisemitic friend of terrorists and practically Hamas himself//Wholesome chungus anti-genocide awesome progressive] mayor makes a play indistinguishable from the exact thing an AIPAC owned politician would do, and frames it in the same way.
Do we start handing the DSA boosters their fell for it again awards now? Or should we wait and see what other ShitLibbery he gets up to?
I have no concern with programs to prevent violence against any group. Isreal wants to tie their nation and government to all Jews and Judaism itself. I do not. Antisemitism is as vile as any other bigotry. Calling out Isreal’s campaign of Genocide does not mean I need to be against Jews.
have no concern with programs to prevent violence against any group
And the fact that you believe that’s what this is when it’s already being openly used to suppress protests against Palestinian land sales in NYC synagogues shows why you’re a prime candidate for the Fell For It Again award.
How has this specific program already been used for suppressing protests when he JUST announced it yesterday? Cite your sources.
Rare Mamdani L? I don’t think he can spend enough they’d forget he is a brown muslim demsoc. It costs $0 to accuse him and push him into losing support whatever he does, in a superposition of both liking and disliking Israel based on context.
You do know that being against antisemitism doesn’t mean being pro-Israel?
Unfortunately not many folks care to make the distinction. It’s the same attitude that got loads of Japanese living peacefully in the US and Canada relocated into concentration camps during WW2.
I don’t think I understand how you got there.
He was baselessly accused of antisemitism like many others who were at least slightly critical of Israel. I suppose it used as a weapon to easily smear his character and political platform some find unwanted, some like AIPAC he pissed off earlier and/or just plain bigots. Nothing would stop them from tooting that horn whatever he does.
Ah yes, antisemitism - the most important of all racisms.
Let’s not bother with addressing the horrors of anti-black racism. Let’s just help make Zionists feel comfortable in a world that doesn’t like genocide.
L take.
A majority of the hate crimes in NYC are committed against Jews. It seems pretty reasonable to me for the mayor to be addressing the problems specific to the city.
Jewish isn’t a race, so antisemitism isn’t racism. I think the word you’re looking for is ‘bigotry’.
Also, not all Jewish people are zionists just like not all black people are criminals or hispanics illegal immigrants. Those are the types generalizations used by bigots to target demographics they don’t like. You’re statement basicay says all Jewish people are complicit in genocide, therefore the Jewish community doesn’t deserve protection against recent events leaving them vulnerable. There’s room for the government to assist both Jewish people and black people at the same time.
Current events have definitely put Jewish people more in the metaphorical cross hairs, so it’s relevant for an article to publicize that problem now. Systemic racism isn’t something a mayor can just solve over night. He has made other moves that help all people like more affordable housing as an example.
Other than major police reform, which isn’t an easy task in itself, what other actions would you like to see him take to tackle anti-black racism? Genuinely, I’m curious what he as mayor could do. I’ve liked what I’ve read about what he’s accomplished thus far and hope to continue seeing positive news about him, but what specifically can he do to fight racism?
So you hate waffles?
